Young people in the areas of Morvant, Laventille, Caledonia and Barataria got on board the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service’s Youth Career and Education Caravan on Saturday 3rd June, 2023.
Saturday’s event marked the 6th stop of the Youth Career and Education Caravan which highlighted resources available within Ministries, State Agencies and the Private Sector. Over 40 booth holders shared information with attendees on opportunities for their personal and professional development. The Caravan is compromised of a career fair and the National Entrepreneurship Development Company’s (NEDCO’s) Entrepreneurship Village. Simultaneously, a mobile caravan traversed through the streets of Morvant and environs encouraging persons to come to the career fair and entrepreneurship village.
“There are so many young people who want to access training programmes, equip themselves to further employment, start new enterprises, develop themselves and contribute to the development of our country. We are very pleased to be here today,” Minister Cummings stated.
In spite of the inclement weather, the young people attended and engaged with booth holders to learn more about youth-specific programmes and opportunities for career and training from the Ministries, private sector and state enterprises. The young people who attended described the event as ‘insightful,’ ‘well-organised,’ ‘full of opportunities’ and ‘fun.’
Also in attendance were the Honorable Adrian Leonce -Member of Parliament, Laventille East/Morvant; Farook Hosein – Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development and National Service and Alderman Anthony Roberts, Chairman of the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation among others.
The Youth Career and Education Caravan also included performances by the St. James Tassa Drummers; the Unified Cultural Beacons Folk Performers; Isasha (Brendon Young) and Turner (Trevor Turner).
The Ministry of Youth Development and National Service remains committed to bringing all stakeholders together to promote youth development and encourage civic-minded citizens to contribute to national service across Trinidad and Tobago.
