The Ministry of Youth Development and National Service’s Youth Career and Education Caravan (YCEC) returned to the road for Cycle Two of the initiative on Saturday 5th August, 2023 in Moruga. From 11:00 a.m., over 200 Moruga youths made their way to the Moruga Multi-Purpose Youth and Sport Facility for youth-focused education and entrepreneurship opportunities from various Ministries, State Agencies and the Private
Sector Organisations.
The YCEC officially launched in March 2023 and comprises a career fair offering personal, professional and business development opportunities to young people, as well as an Entrepreneurship Village proudly supported by the National Entrepreneurship Development Company Limited (NEDCO) – an agency of the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service.
The YCEC involved six communities in its first cycle including, Port-of-Spain and environs, Carenage and environs, San Fernando and environs, Beetham Gardens and environs, Point Fortin and environs and Morvant and environs.
Cycle Two of the YCEC kicked off in Moruga and featured booth holders such as the Agricultural Development Bank, the Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP), the On Job Training Programme (OJT) the Ministry of Trade and Industry and more, as well as quick sign-ups for library cards, games, giveaways, food, entertainment and much more.
Simultaneously, a mobile caravan traversed through Moruga and environs encouraging persons to visit the career fair and take full advantage of the opportunities being offered.
The mobile caravan also brought opportunities to the doorsteps of Moruga youths as representatives from the MYDNS interacted with young persons in the streets and in their yards informing them on various programmes and services available to them.
Minister of Youth Development and National Service – the Honourable Foster Cummings; Permanent Secretary, MYDNS – Mr. Farook Hosein; Director of the Youth Affairs Division, MYDNS; and and Commissioner for Co-operative Development (CDD) – Ms. Deborah-Ann Scott were present at the Moruga YCEC. Minister of Trade and Industrry – Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon also paid the YCEC a visit on
Saturday.
