Minister of Youth Development and National Service, the Honourable Foster Cummings, today, met with Secretary of Sport and Youth Affairs, Tobago House of Assembly (THA) – Assemblyman Tracy Davidson-Celestine, to discuss collaboration between the Ministry and the THA Youth Division on youth development programmes and initiatives.
Minister Cummings informed the meeting of the establishment of an Advisory Committee to develop a business model and management system that will guide the operations of the new Youth Development and Apprenticeship Centres and deliberated on the implementation of youth programmes across Trinidad and Tobago.
The Minister further discussed the deployment of the Military-Led Academic Training Programme (MiLAT) and Military-Led Youth Programme of Apprenticeship and Reorientation Training (MYPART) and the suitability for the youth of Tobago; and also highlighted that a Youth Agricultural Homestead Project is being developed to provide young people with the capability to pursue agricultural initiatives.
Permanent Secretary – Farook Hosein and Director of Youth Affairs – Sean Ramrattan, both of the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service, along with THA’s Administrator for Sport and Youth Affairs – Earland Kent and Director of Youth Affairs – Ann-Marie deGazon, also attended the virtual meeting.
There was a general consensus on working collaboratively to achieve the goals and objectives of the National Youth Policy (2020-2025).
The Ministry of Youth Development and National Service remains committed to bringing all stakeholders together to promote youth development, and encourages civic-minded citizens to contribute to national service across Trinidad and Tobago.
